Why I'm Running

To represent students in diverse programs,
we need to elect candidates from multiple fields.

“Why should I be your VP Student Experience? I know BCIT students are unique. We study here, because our programs are tailored for the jobs of today and the careers of tomorrow. We study hard, because our education is as challenging as it is comprehensive. And we study for a purpose, so we graduate as contributors to a world of vast complexity. Our SA can be an incredible instrument for our success, and I will do my best to improve your student experience while you are studying at BCIT.”

Matthew Miller is a council member at the BCIT Student Association, and he is passionate about workplace health and safety, recently promoting school-specific ergonomics workshops open to all students. Prior to studying medical sonography at BCIT, Matthew was a student at the University of Victoria where he excelled in the chemistry BSc program.

Matthew enjoyed working as a Community Leader while attending UVic where he assisted with team building and conflict resolution in his residence neighbourhood. In the wider community, he volunteered for three years with Island Health as a Youth Advisor and worked to engage youth in healthcare. Matthew hopes to apply these skills, and undoubtedly gain new ones, as the next VP Student Experience of the BCITSA.
